Delhi’s ₹658 Crore Road Makeover Gets the Green Light

The Delhi government has greenlit road infrastructure strengthening projects worth ₹657.99 crore to upgrade 270.63 km of roads across East, North, and South Delhi. Approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee, the initiative introduces a zone-wise composite tendering system to replace traditional road-wise contracts. The allocation includes ₹147.08 crore for the East Maintenance Zone (58.29 km), ₹247.31 crore for the North Zone (104.42 km), and ₹263.61 crore for the South Zone (107.92 km). Works will cover advanced resurfacing, milling, and safety furniture upgrades. Ahead of its October completion deadline, the project mandates a five-year defect liability period (DLP) with 48-hour pothole repairs. Progress will be tracked digitally via the GSDL/DPMG portal, backed by independent audits from CSIR-CRRI and the School of Planning and Architecture.
